Tamer Kafafi
Salam brothers and sisters.
My name is Tamer Kafafi. I’ve been living in San Diego since 2022. I currently work as an engineer at Qualcomm. This is in fact my second time living in sunny San Diego, as I was here before from 2014 to 2016. ElhamduLilah I’ve been blessed to be a member of MCC for about 10 years now.
I was born in Egypt, lived in UAE and graduated from University of British Columbia in beautiful Vancouver, Canada.
I’m very impressed with MCC and the community that supports it and I’m honored to be considered for this opportunity to contribute to the board. I ask Allah swt to accept my humble effort for his sake and pleasure.

Fahad Khan
Salam alai’kum,
My name is Fahad H. Khan and I am a native of Los Angeles, California. I have been in San Diego since starting college at UCSD back in 2004. After the completion of my college, I trained in various other programs to complete my medical and surgical training in Ophthalmmology. I returned to CA and started an eye clinic in downtown San Diego. I am currently a liscenced physician in CA and the current Medical Director and a glaucoma specialist at Vision Specialists of CA surgical eye clinic downtown.
Both me and my wife are no strangers to MCC; we are both MCC Foundation members and have been volunteering over the last few years. Since about 3 years ago, both myself and my wife have been involved in extracurrivular activities and volunteering at MCC GSD. We started a mentoring program and have mentored multiple students from MCC that wanted to go into medicine. We hope to continue to mentor and help guide students who want to learn more about either medicine or ophthalmology. They have also had the opportunity to volunteer and gain first-hand medical experience at the eye clinic.
Among the different projects that I have contributed to at MCC, most notable would be the Gym and the Cafe. Both Br Pervez Mobin and I had initially raised money, planned the structure and physicially helped in the construction of the gym as well provided weights and equipment to stock it. A second round of fund raising was done to fully equip and build the gym facility. Another project that has been very successful is the MCC Cafe. When I realized that our masjid needs a food venue to service the community, I again worked with Br Pervez to raise funds, plan, equip and physicially man the Cafe on Fridays to provide food for the community and raise funds for the masjid expansion. My goal has been to make the MCC Cafe a food waqf so that it can be self-sustaining and is able to both feed and service the community- as well as raise funds for important ventures- we have to been able to raise an additional ~$15,000 in profit for the MCC masjid expansion project to date, Alhamdulilah.
More recently, I took on the MCC security project to help with the growing security needs of the masjid as our community continues to grow. I worked to create a Security guard Employee Manual, Security Team Training Manual, and operational plans for Medical Emergency, Fire/Earthhquake Emergency, and Active Threat Emergency. We have also worked to include the weeekend kids’ school teachers and staff as part of the training and have scheduled Emergency First Aid/CPR classes for our staff. This has been a tremendous help in order to prepare our staff for any emergency they encounter at MCC and be better equipped to handle issues for the betterment of our community.
My purpose in running for the BOD is to serve Allah, SWT. I hope to be able to continue the work in all of the above mentioned endeavors as well as start and contribute to existing initiatives in order to maintain, improve and exapand the current services available to the community insha’Allah. I would like to thank all of you for the time and efforts, may Allah accept it from us. Jzk and Thank you.

Safi Khan
Salaam Alekum,
My name is Safi Khan, and I have lived in San Diego since 1995. My wife, Nadya Khan, and I, along with our 12-year-old daughter, Amani, have been deeply connected to MCC since its inception in 2001. We are proud supporters of MCC and its mission to serve our community.
I previously served on the MCC Board of Directors from 2010 to 2012, beginning as Vice Chair and later as Chairman for two years. During my tenure, MCC reached a historic milestone—breaking ground for the construction of its permanent home in Santaluz. At that time, MCC operated from various rented spaces, and I was honored to play a role in ensuring a smooth transition. One initiative I take particular pride in is the use of on-site trailers for Jumu’ah prayers during construction. This allowed the community to stay connected to their future masjid, witness its progress firsthand, and strengthen fundraising efforts.
I am once again running for the MCC Operations Board, bringing experience, historical perspective, and a deep passion for community service. My vision for MCC is to ensure it remains a welcoming, inclusive, and spiritually enriching space—where our youth feel connected, our elders are valued, and every member of our community finds a place of belonging. I will focus on expanding MCC’s services, fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity, and addressing the evolving needs of our growing community.
My prior experience managing center operations while overseeing construction aligns perfectly with MCC’s next phase of growth. With the anticipated expansion of Al Manar School, the covered courtyard for Jumu’ah prayers, and the development of the two-acre parking lot, I bring valuable insight into balancing day-to-day operations with large-scale projects for the next three years.
Professionally, I have over 30 years of leadership, management, and strategic planning experience. I am committed to applying my skills, along with my core values of honesty, integrity, and accountability, to take MCC’s service to the next level. With sincere humility and dedication, I ask for your support in this election.

Mosaddiq Saifuddin
Asalaam Alaikum,
My name is Mosaddiq Saifuddin. Qualcomm brought me to San Diego back in 2013. We moved near MCC in 2021. My wife, Sana Jilani, and I have a 4 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. At various stages in my life giving back to the community manifested itself in different ways. Most recently I served on the MCS board helping coordinate zakaat and sadaqa in the local community. As my children are starting to emerge from the infant/toddler phase, I’m ready to start giving more of my time to volunteer work. I’ve always been impressed with how well MCC is operated, by applying for the board position, I hope to put in my share of time to ensure MCC continues to thrive for many years to come.

Hussain Shah
Assalam Alaikum,
My name is Hussain Shah, and I am honored to be nominated for the MCC Board of Directors.
I moved to San Diego with my family in 2014 and have been fortunate to be a part of the MCC community ever since. I hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Pakistan and a master’s degree from Houston, Texas. For the past 12 years, I have been working with a local contracting firm.
MCC plays a vital role in serving the Muslim community in San Diego, offering various programs and services that engage people of all ages. The masjid holds a central place in a believer’s life, and fostering a strong connection with it helps strengthen both our faith and our relationship with the community.
A few years ago, I had the privilege of serving on the MCC Nominating Committee and have also volunteered for various programs at the masjid and my children’s school. I am running for this position to serve our masjid and community for the sake of Allah. I also want to acknowledge and express my gratitude to the current and past board members, volunteers, and nominating committee members for their dedication and service to the masjid and the community.
My family and I have greatly benefited from the programs at MCC, and I look forward to contributing to their growth and improvement for the betterment of our community. I am excited about the opportunity to help shape the future of our community center.
